Iwaki Beach
Iwaki Beach is a coast area lying for 26 kilometers from Namidate Beach which is located in 2 kilometers south of Hisanohama Station (Iwaki City) of JR Joban Line, to Onahama-Misaki Park in the south. Iwaki Beach is a representative marine natural park in Fukushima Prefecture. From the north, there are series of sightseeing points: deep Namidate Beach with strange rocks, Shin-Maiko Beach with long coastline of white sand and green pines, Usu-iso which was one of the best beaches in Japan, Shioya-zaki Lighthouse, the international harbor of Onahama, Misaki Park which is facing Pacific Ocean, and Marine Science Museum Fukushima, a marine learning facility. These sites offer the various scenery and the joy of beach. Specially, the beaches located in the south of Shioya-zaki Beach, collectively called "Seven Beaches of Iwaki", offer the perfect bathing resort individually. These beaches are crowded with people living in and outside of the prefecture. Misaki Park, where "Iwaki Marine Tower" stands at a height of 100 meters above sea level, is a city park built on the cape jutting out over the sea. There are amusement facilities and "Shiomi-dai", an observatory looking down rocks washed by the waves. Visitors can enjoy sea breeze and have a good time there.
