Aizu Painted Candles have been one of Aizu Wakamatsu City’s most treasured traditional crafts for around 500 years.
At this festival, held in February, approximately 10,000 painted candles cast their warm light over Tsuruga-jo Castle and Oyakuen Gardens, illuminating the snow-covered city with thousands of flames.
[Location] 2 Venues in Aizuwakamatsu City: 1.) Tsuruga-jo Castle. 2.) Oyakuen Gardens.
Aizu Painted Candle Festival will be held on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th February 2018.
By bus: For Tsuruga-jo Castle, take the Haikara-san Bus or Akabe Bus from Aizu Wakamatsu Station to Tsuruga-jo Kita-guchi Bus Stop.
For Oyakuen Gardens, take the Akabe Bus from Aizu Wakamatsu Station to Oyakuen Bus Stop.
