Chansey, Fukushima Prefecture’s “Support Pokémon” Mascot, visited a number of cherry blossom spots on the prefecture’s coast. This is the area of Fukushima that always blooms the earliest.
Misaki Park is amazing to see ocean viewing, which is seaside park in Iwaki city. It’s also lovely to see cherry blossoms fluttering in the fresh sea breeze.
Chansey also visited Baryo Park in Soma City. It is a ceremony site used during the annual Soma Nomaoi Festival held in July. This is a great place to see cherry blossom in a very historic area.
Chansey also made an appearance at Tomioka Town’s Cherry Blossom Festival – lighting up the faces of kids of all ages. This spring, evening light-up events are being held at Yonomori Cherry Blossom Tunnel, which has become the symbol of Tomioka Town. The site of cherry blossom standing out against the night sky creates a magical atmosphere.
Last weekend, the coast of Fukushima, which continues to push forward with post-Great East Japan Earthquake reconstruction efforts, was filled with the smiles of people enjoying cherry blossom.
Next week Chansey will appear at Nicchu Railway Line Memorial Cycling Pedestrians' Path Weeping Cherry Blossom (Kitakata City) and Hanamiyama Park (Fukushima City)!
